I'm a Web Developer

About Me

My interest in web dev began when I took on an extra role as a superuser as part of my job in central London. I enjoyed solving IT issues for colleagues at work and attended evening HTML classes. Throughout the years, I continued learning how to code using Codecademy and Udemy courses to build a solid background on HTML and JavaScript. Wanting to learn more about web development and how web apps are built, I completed a 6 months' fullstack course with Hamburg Coding School. I'm now a freelance frontend web developer looking for a permanent position or an internship to broaden my programming skill.

Take a look at the summary of my job experiences

My job experiences

I may not have tons of exp. in web dev, though I've transferred my time management and accountability skills from an office job, to more hands-on practical work.

I am enthusiastic about web development and have taken courses with Codecademy and Udemy to learn to code. As another step towards my career in IT, I completed a 6 months' fullstack developer course. I'm currently working part-time at StadtSalat and am open to a permanent post as a junior web developer.

My other passion is baking. In 2018, I decided to come to Hamburg, learn German and then become a baker. After my apprenticeship, I worked in both production and sales.

Working across to teams as a public health inspector, I also supported my colleagues as superuser. This responsibility let me discover that I enjoy solving IT issues alongside other superusers and system administrators.

Projects

Take a look at my projects that are deployed.
Most of my code and practice can be found on my Github and Codesandbox accounts.

Pokèdex using Vue.js

A tutor from the HCS has kindly given some of us a taste of Vue.js and I was able to recreate this Pokèdex by fetching data from the Pokèmon API. As it was my first time using Vue, it took me some time to read and understand the basic structure and syntax. You can check out more info on - Coding With Helder. The code for my version of this Pokèdex is available on my github account.

This mini exercise comes from Dr Yu's Node.js module. I really enjoyed that she explained how to pick and choose key points when reading documentation, especially Node! It was still quite a little challenge - in order to create this simple QR code image, I still needed to go through her steps to change the part of the code.

A Travelling Diary Blog

After completed the course, I just want to learn more about Node.js myself and try different things. Using the materials and some additional self-learning, I built a working blog with ejs and MongoDB. It's a fully functional blog page that I can view all blogs, add new blog, edit existing content and delete any old ones. This project is deployed using Render. check it out here

My Travelling Map

My final project at the end of my 6 months' coding course using React. There are examples of how the JavaScript map() method is applied, Wouter for routing and Mapbox for all the map functions. After submitting this project, I continue to tidy-up some of my code and worked on areas that I had issues with, such as deployment and basic layout. This project is now deployed and you can visit here

Some of my coding exercises come from the full stack web development course by Dr Angela Yu. They included coding with vanilla JS, jQuery, ejs, Node.js and React. Check out that QR code to my Github account for more info.
